Swift Nest Box

Swifts are very particular when it comes to choosing where they nest. They will usually choose to nest in high, deep crevices with good clear access. As we have lost many old buildings, and as roof spaces are often now filled, swift numbers have declined. This swift box is the perfect solution and will help make your garden and outdoor spaces more wildlife-friendly.

This simple, durable and well-built nest box incorporates all the dimensions and specifications that swifts require. The nest box is made from locally sourced FSC certified timber in our UK workshop by experienced woodworkers. The small yet wide hole located lower down on the front of the box is ideal for swifts. Drainage holes in the underside allow moisture to drain from the box.

Siting

Attach the Swift Nest Box to the outside of your home, large shed or barn, to the masonry or wood just under the eaves. Ideally, swifts like to nest at the height of 5m from the ground and need a clear flight path to and from the nest. The size of the box means you can fit it under and between even the narrowest of eaves. Once the box is secured tightly beneath the eaves, the aspect/direction the box is facing is not particularly important. They can face any direction from NE through S to NW.
