Our handmade bespoke wildlife products can take up to four weeks to build and deliver if we don't have them in stock.
A further development to our unique and tried and tested design, the SAFE HOUSE is the perfect environment for secretive nesting species such as Robin Erithacus rubecula, White, Pied and Grey Wagtails Motacilla sp. and many others.
Bird species that build a cup nest in secluded habitats will find the narrow entrance slot, which allows access to a roomy interior with a low internal partition. This provides a nesting section at the back of the box with a resting, alighting area in the centre. This is the perfect configuration for adult birds that are incubating, to receive feeding visits from their mate or for the transition of brooding duties whilst remaining safely hidden from predators. Once the chicks hatch, the resting area is ideal for parent birds to access their chicks for feeding whilst still remaining safely hidden and out of the reach of larger predatory birds such as corvids.
The interior is darkened with a non-toxic stain to encourage secretive species such as robins to take up residence.
The Passerine Safe House may be used outside of the breeding season as a secure roosting location by a wide range of species.
Monitoring/cleaning of the nest chamber is simply achieved via the hinged front panel. Once closed the panel is held securely in place with a swivel latch made from our recycled farm plastic.
