Peregrine Nest Box

The Premium Range Peregrine Nest Box is a modular design suited to most structures with the appropriate vertical height and form. Peregrines have become a regular feature of the wildlife within urban areas and their success is in part limited by the availability of suitable nest sites. Whilst many buildings offer the ideal height and security for nesting falcons, few have ledges that accommodate a peregrine's breeding needs.

This box has sufficient depth to hold the required nest scrape substrate (10-15cm of pea gravel is ideal). On buildings with few or no adjacent ledges that can offer perching opportunities for fledging young, the fledging balcony should be included in the construction. This not only gives growing chicks a platform from which to wing exercise and stretch before first flights, but also offers the adult birds a convenient platform for food passes, incubation change overs and territory observation.

The box is very robust and enduring but significantly lighter than some other commercially available models. In addition to the timber construction, all vertically exposed surfaces are further protected with recycled farm plastic sheeting (in woodland green), enhancing durability and making box and fledge platform cleaning and maintenance a simple exercise.

Mounting the box will depend on the structure to which it will be attached and we can advise accordingly once a project has been identified. We can supply mounting brackets to suit a variety of structural needs.

As with most of the products in our Premium Ecology Range, the box comes with a 20 year structural guarantee. It is made in our UK workshops using FSC certified Duraply, Recycled Farm Plastics and high quality screws (no nails) and other fixings.
